The Australian Adventure

Australian fashion has been on my radar for quite some time, I was so intrigued by local bloggers, designers and it girls who have been the focus of international media for the past couple of years. I just had to find my way here one way or another, and so I did! When an invitation from Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia came through I knew that distance is not going to keep me away from attending this event and a 20 hour flight seemed like a small sacrifice to make in order to tick a box on one of my biggest fashion fantasies. Sydney has become one of the most trendy, stylish and talked about places recently and I just had to find out why.

It might be surprising but the road leading here ended up being a lot easier and smoother than I thought, after all I was going “down under” located on the very bottom of earth, with all the excitement to get to this secluded distant iceland didn’t seem that far away somehow. The local fashion industry here gained a worldly respect in recent years and they are in line with many international designers and fashion houses and it’s mission is to provide clothes suiting the warm climate and the relaxed life style of it’s population and yet still be relevant on a global level, I now know for sure they succeeded.
Apart from attending the shows, launches and vip dinners I also had some time to explore the wonders this town has to offer, so if by any chance you are heading down under soon here are some of the places you don’t want to miss:

Stay at the Pier One Hotel
The view only should be a good enough reason to stay at the Pier One hotel, but if only that was the only reason, so why not wake up every morning and imagine you live in a postcard for a few days?!

Visit the botanical garden
Needless to say Australia has some of the world’s most exotic nature, if you don’t have enough time for a all round road trip across the continent you should most defiantly swing by here and enjoy the breath taking scenery this garden has on display, wear sneakers it’s going to be quite the walk.

Swim at Bondi Beach
This iconic beach has all of Sydney’s cool – it crowd flocking to on a daily basis. This is surfer’s heaven and every hipster’s dream neighborhood to live in, this right here is what Aussie style is all about; effortless, relaxing and down to earth life style, or in other words the Bondi way of living. If all the surfing (or drooling on surfers and the local beach babes) made you tired you can chill and grab a bite at the Icebergs restaurant or at the Bucket List you must have the lobster roll because I said so!

Pet a Kuala at Taronga Zoo
Unlike what you might think Kangaroos and Koalas are not actually running around on the streets here but of course you came all this way and you expect to cuddle with at least one of them, worries aside, Taronga Zoo has all those local creatures on display. A magnificent 15 minute ride on the fairy and you are in another world, posing next to a Tasmanian devil and feeding a baby kangaroo.

Shop at Paddington
This was by far my favorite shopping destination in Sydney, with all the local designer boutiques and cute little cafe’s and a weekend market no wonder Paddington attracts the trendiest most fashion savvy crowd of Sydney, trust me, this is where you want to be seen. Start at Oxford street and walk all the way up to Glenmore Road, local shopping experience at it’s best.
