Just when I thought I will be missing all the European Christmas action (the lights, the trees the freezing cold) I got a very promising phone call from the kind people of W Hotel Amsterdam announcing I will be making it to the festive activities after all. As you know hiding my joy isn’t my strong side so I am going to share this wonderful experience with you.

Even though I travel so much I must admit that I’ve never been to Amsterdam and this was the perfect chance to change that. I quickly packed some chunky cable knits (and thermals to wear underneath them) a pair of leather pants (because you want to be a rock start even if you can’t feel your toes) and lets not forget that hat!

The W Hotel in Amsterdam is a unique type of hotel, it’s not just a place to lay your head in, it is almost a city with in a city, it is the ultimate travel experience, so much so that we hardly left its premises. The W here is “equipped” with 2 chef restaurants, a bar, a (unreal!!) spa, an art gallery and even an incredible concept store, after all we only had 2 days to see it all. Let’s start with the fact that the W hotel in Amsterdam is actually a reconstruction of an old bank and a telecomm office this means it’s already a concept worth visiting. Inside the hotel you will find the spa which is located inside a vault, yes I got a massage inside a giant safe and it was amazing! On the first floor you will find THE DUCHESS an unforgettable dining experience, mixing the classic touches of the interior and the extremely progressive kitchen, I recommend going even if you are not a guest of the hotel (but I hope for you that you are). But why settle for one restaurant when you can have 2! in the other building across the road you have MR PORTER, a trendy roof top steakhouse, some spectacular views and a cosy fire place.

Each corner of the W Amsterdam is designed to make you sigh, if you have a sharp eye like me you will notice the tiniest details spread all around the hotel, please ask anyone from the staff to give you a tour and explain in more detail. If all this wasn’t enough let’s end with X Bank concept store. One of the coolest places in town for finding local designer collections & chic collectible souvenirs you’ll be happy to take home with you.

In conclusion this has been one of the top stays in the Moody Roza travel ranks, which means you should absolutely have W Amsterdam on your mind next time you planning a trip to the capital of bikes and canals!
